Our mission statement is to collect and p reserve artifacts of law enforcement in Spokane and other local agencies, provide historical education for schools, and public as a learning experience and a library of records of police growth in the community; and, finally, to build trust with public and law enforcement" We are in the process of writing the history of the Spokane Police Department with a series of volumes. The first volume "LIFE BEHIND THE BADGE - Spokane Police Department'S Founding Years 1881-1903" is out in our book stores or available through our museum now. The second volume, "LIFE BEHIND THE BADGE - Spokane Police Department's Turbulent Years 1903-1923," will be out the summer of 2010. We are currently working on Volume three.

The Spokane Valley Heritage Museum is a unique walk through the history and culture of the Valley. The museum is located in a 1912 historical landmark. The museum is heavy on artifacts and exhibits which engage all senses. The museum is colorful and appeals to every generation. Outside exhibit space is currently being developed.

The 2025 AASLH Annual Conference, in partnership with Ohio Local History Alliance, will take place as the history field makes the final preparations to kickoff off the 250th commemoration of the founding of the United States.

The 2025 conference theme, inspired by AASLH’s Making History at 250: The Field Guide for Semiquincentennial, is an opportunity to broadly explore one of the guide’s themes, The American Experiment. For many in the American colonies in 1776, independence from Britain represented a “leap into the dark” into an unknown future
