Naples Historical Society, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is considered the Central Voice of Naples History. The mission is to preserve Naples history and heritage for the community and future generations to enjoy. That mission is accomplished through five (5) preservation initiatives and ten (10) cleverly crafted educational programs. All educational programs are based at Historic Palm Cottage, Naples oldest house. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Historic Palm Cottage features docent-guided tours of the house museum, The Norris Gardens at Palm Cottage, and walking tours of the Naples Historic District.

When Eckerd College began planning the 33,000-square-foot Nielsen Center for Visual Arts, a vast amount of thought went into the structure’s location, aesthetic, uses and features. Visitors are inspired by ongoing arts projects seamlessly blended into the campus’s natural beauty courtesy of large glass walls overlooking Fox Pond, and unique outdoor features, including a ceramics and sculpture yard.

Serving as one among 257 air stations during World War II, and as one of a few specialty schools for training on the TBM/TBF Avenger aircraft, the Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale (NASFL) made a big impact in the South Florida region, and the United States as a whole. The NAS Fort Lauderdale Museum (also known as the Link Trainer Building #8), stands as the only reminder of a naval complex of more than 200 buildings.
