Like the desert, the Alan Bible Visitor Center offers great opportunities to those who pause and take a closer look. The Desert Discovery Center holds stories and information about one of the most extreme areas on earth, the Mojave Desert. Explore the exhibits to see how plants and animals survive, how to read the stories in rocks and mountains, and how the landscape has changed over the ages. Gather around the relief map to see how vast Lake Mead is and to learn about the land before Hoover Dam was built.

Founding by steamship engineer James P. Allaire, our fully interactive early 19th century village is truly a travel back in time...into NJ's early history. Located in the beautiful depths of Allaire State Park in Wall Township, the trees will part and our village with it's hardworking villagers will come alive before your eyes. Whether it's touring our historical buildings, or helping a young lady cider press near the gardens...there is always something new to discover at the village. Meet our villagers and learn about their lives in 1836. Help them prepare traditional hearth cooked meals or simply marvel at their unusual speech.

At Amazement Square, Central Virginia's first multidisciplinary, hands-on children's museum, we believe that play is one of the most important ways children learn and grow! Climb, slide, and discover as you make your way through four floors of exciting, interactive exhibits, activities, and programs that explore global and regional topics, arts and humanities, and science and health-related themes. To allow people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to take advantage of the museum's unique learning opportunities, Amazement Square provides a variety of outreach events and offers a Sponsored Admission Program for undeserved youth to experience the museum at a free or reduced rate.

Conservation of orchid species and their habitats has been a cornerstone of the AOS since our founding in 1921. Through its members and staff, the Society plays a major role in the formulation of world orchid conservation opinion and policies. The Annie Riggs Memorial Museum is open six days a week, and is located at the corner of Main and Callaghan (number 3 on the historical tour). Visitors can experience a thriving desert garden at the back of the museum, inviting benches on the wrap-around porches and an interior courtyard with a restored Pecos County buggy.

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a world-renowned zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden, all in one place! Within the Museum grounds, you will see more than 300 animal species and 1,200 kinds of plants. There are almost 2 miles of paths traversing 21 acres of beautiful desert.

The Allegheny Portage Railroad has many interesting things to see. Visit the Lemon House- a historic tavern built to accommodate travelers. Discover the Engine House- a replica of the many buildings that made up the Portage Railroad. Watch a movie in our visitor center and browse the many exhibits and models. Drive out to the Staple Bend Tunnel unit to hike and explore the nine hundred foot tunnel (remember you need to walk 2 miles each direction when visiting the tunnel).

We are a Natural History museum With over 200 exhibits from a Dragon Fly to a 9 ft. Brown Bear. Our Live raptor center will be opening in the summer of 2010 with live birds on display and presentations.

The 544-acre estate is composed of gently rolling hills divided into a farm complex, hayfields, pasture, man-made and natural ponds, and forests. Tobler Creek, a spring fed waterway, intersects the property entering near the west corner and meandering down to exit at the middle of the southeast boundary.

Each spring, the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve comes alive with the seasonal surprises of the Mojave Desert Grassland habitat. The duration and intensity of colors and scents vary from year to year.
