Description

Since October 1992, the Fairhaven Historical Society has operated a museum in the Fairhaven Academy Building, 141 Main Street, Fairhaven MA. The building was built as a private school in 1798.

At the museum, visitors may see and original early 19th century classroom, art, photographs, furniture, artifacts, and other items related to the town's history. In the collection are pieces of art by Lemuel D. Eldred, Milton Delano and others. There is a 1/12 scale model of Capt. Joshua Slocum's sloop Spray. A Period Room display contains beautiful antique furniture that one might find in a well appointed 19th century home.
